BAIDOA, Somalia (INO) — Suspected Al shabaab Gunmen have shot and killed a well-known Muslim cleric near a mosque in the strategic city of Baidoa, the second cleric to be killed in two weeks, Idale News Online reports.
Sheikh Hussein Hassan, a leading Sufi cleric has been assassinated in Baidoa Monday night around 8:00 p.m. shortly after leaving a mosque at Isha-Baydhobo village, according to the witnesses.
Sharif Siidkay Ali was killed by unidentified assailants in January 17, barely two weeks ago. He was an Imam of a mosque in the city, 250Km northwest of Mogadishu, Somali capital.
Baidoa fell to Somalia and African Union troops following Al shabaab’s pull out in 2012.
