Upon invitation by the government of United Arabs Emirate (UAE), I was able to participate in a meeting held from 30 October to 01 November 2016 in Dubai.
I hereby extend my gratitude to UAE for extending invitations to heads of Federal States in Somalia. I would also like to express my appreciation to UAE for standing with the people of Somalia before and even after the collapse of the central government. UAE provided financial support to Somalia,
supported the Somali business community in their country and are continuously involved in protecting and promoting a united, independent and self-reliant Somalia. For that WE are grateful.
As it is now known, UAE invited heads of Federal States of Somalia in order to strengthen relations between UAE and the country. The meeting served as an important platform to reconcile and diffuse tension between the federal member states of Puntland and Galmudug over Galkacyo district in Mudug region.
At the meeting, it was agreed that both Puntland and Galmudug head of states would jointly work together to end the crisis and bring peace to the people of Galkacyo. It is now clear that major progress was achieved on the Galkacyo situation while leaders were at UAE, at the same time, issues important to the Somali people was discussed.
I would like to make it clear that all decisions that came out of the UAE meeting were those agreed upon by heads of Federal Member states without any interference from any party or parties. May the bond and relations between Somalia and UAE become stronger in the future.
I would also like to wish a successful endeavor for further discussions on Galkacyo situation that will be held in Kismayo.
My deepest gratitude to UAE for training our forces, offering humanitarian and development support to the people of Somalia.
Thank you!
