The newly established Hir-Shabelle state in Jowhar town has set up a peace committee to end the ongoing clan battles in the central region of Hiiraan.

The committee was formed in an attempt to de-escalate renewed clan clashes outside Beledweyne, the provincial capital of Hiiraan region in central Somalia.

Col Salah Mumin in Jowhar said the parliamentarian committee from Hir-Shabelle state will arrive in Beledweyne on next Monday for peace mission.

Hir-Shabelle state said it will mediate the warring clans in the rural areas near Beledweyne and push the rival sides to sign a ceasefire deal to halt the hostility.
