Al Shabaab parades Govt soldiers in Sablale town

Al Shabaab, the Somalia-based militant group linked with Al Qaeda has paraded two soldiers in Sablale district in Lower Shabelle region, whom it said defected from Somalia military to their side.

Residents who did not want to want to named, told Shabelle radio over the phone that the militants have displayed publicly two Somali soldiers and a fighting vehicle in the town on Friday afternoon.

The alleged surrendered soldiers from SNA with machine gun and rocket propelled grenades had given up to Al shabaab fighters in Sablale town in Lower Shabelle region over unknown circumstance.

On the other hand, Al Shabaab claimed killing of at least 20 soldiers in a massive attack on a base belonging to the African Union troops serving with AMISOM near Bulo Marer district in the region.

Al Shabaab has intensified its attacks on SNA and AMISOM bases in Lower Shabelle region amid the federal government is busy with the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections.
