On November 2016 voting resumed for the Lower House of the Somali parliament.
More than 50% of members of parliament in lower house have now been elected across the different regions of Somalia, with the remainder expected in the coming days.
This is a major step forward for Somalia, and the elections going on in Garowe, Jowhar, Baidoa, Adado, Kismayo and Mogadishu represent the most extensive electoral process to take place in Somalia in 47 years.
The current process is certainly more representative that the 2012 process.
The process resumed after a temporary suspension in Hirshabelle following a shooting incident between two rival groups in an electoral hall on November 18th.
