Ugandan government said it will pull out its soldiers serving under the African Union force in Somalia fighting the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab group.
Gen Katumba Wamala, Uganda’s military chief told reporters in Kampala Thursday that the decision to withdraw troops from the horn of Africa nation in late 2017 was taken as result of frustration with Somali army and foreign military advisors in Somalia.
Uganda became the first country which deployed the first contingent of the African Union force in Somalia in 2007.
The east African nation has since lost hundreds of soldiers in the fight against al-Shabab group which continues a deadly insurgency across large parts of Somalia.
