A Somali official says government troops have repelled an attack by Al Shabaab militants on their bases in Qoryoley district in Lower Shabelle province on Wednesday night.
Col Ali Mohamed Aden, who is a senior military commander in the town, told Local Media the Somali National Army (SNA) have fought off Al Shabaab attack.
“Al Shabaab fighters attacked army bases on Qoryoley from several directions but NSA soldiers have successfully pushed them back and remained their bases,” he said.
Mr Aden said Somali troops have killed a number of militants during the counter-attack which took place last night in Qoryoley town, about 120Km south-west of Mogadishu.
