A fierce gunfight between Somali federal government forces and armed militia broke out at Bulo Sheikh area, located in the outskirts of Qoryoley city, 120Km south west of Mogadishu.
Somali military said the fighting erupted after SNA soldiers attacked an illegal checkpoint run by local militiamen who used to demanding an extortion money from public transport.
Speaking with Local Media over the phone, a senior Somali military commander in the area said several militiamen were killed and seized one alive during the army operation.
Somali forces are reportedly cleansing illegal roadblocks set up in the Lower Shabelle region, in southern Somalia as the region is witnessing attacks by Al Shabaab militants.
