Somali embassy in United States has been accused of carrying out plans to deport dozens of asylum seekers to Somalia.
Somali immigrants in a US detention have said that they are facing forceful repatriation and lengthy detention without charge.
Noor Mohamed Mohamud who is among dozens of detainees in Florida detention centre speaking to Local Media on phone said that Somali embassy in that country asked US government to return the asylum seekers to Somalia.
Mohamud said he started his perilous journey from Africa and spent over $ 20, 000 dollars to reach the US soil via Mexico.
“I have been struggling to reach the United States as to build my future here in US because we know the situation such as insecurity, jobless and dysfunctional government back home cannot afford us any better living,” noted Mohamud.
Another detainee identified himself as Samiir Abdirahman said they are over forty detainees who are jailed at SBC detention centre in Florida.
Attempt made by Media to reach Somalia’s ambassador Ahmed Issa Awad to US for comment did not bear fruit.
