Doha(INO)-The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia has paid a two-day visit to the Qatari capital, Doha, meeting Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, other senior Government officials and heads of humanitarian agencies.
While in Doha Mr. Kay also met with members of the Somali Diaspora, discussing with them the immense contribution of Somalis across the globe to peace and development in Somalia.
Mr. Kay told to the media in Doha that defeating Al Shabaab would take a comprehensive approach, including state-building and military operations. Mr. Kay stressed that while the UN had responded to Somalia’s vast humanitarian needs during the two-decade civil war, the time was ripe for the country’s partners to invest in the reconstruction and development of the country.
