One dead, six wounded in grenade explosion in Marko

At least one person was killed, and six others were wounded in a grenade attack on a Somali army checkpoint in the southern coastal city of Marka on Monday night.

A Witness, speaking on condition of anonymity said suspected Al Shabaab member has hurled hand grenade at the military outpost in Via-Wajeer neighborhood.

In the aftermath of the bomb attack, security forces sealed off the scene of the explosion and launched an investigation into the incident, thought the culprits escaped shortly.

No group or individual has claimed credit for the bomb attack in Marka, and the local authority did not comment on the incident.

Marka, is a key seaside city in southern Somalia and it lies just 109Km south of Mogadishu. The city fell to SNA and AMISOM in 2012 after seven-years Al Shabaab rule.
