The lawmaker who competed for the speaker of the parliament Abdirashid Mohamed Hidig has called for a new change in the leadership of the house of the horn of African country.

He called on the new MPs to elect an effective leader that can lead the country to peace, stability and prosperity, instead of reinstating former leaders who failed their tasks.

Mr Hidig conceded defeat in Wednesday’s polls for the speaker of the parliament after losing to outgoing speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari who was re-elected 2nd term in office.

The newly inaugurated lawmakers are voting today for the first and second deputy speakers of the 10th parliament of Somalia, which is set to pick a new president in the coming weeks.
