Foreign military jets strike Al-Shabab camp in Somalia

Unknown fighter jets thought to be belonging to US military conducted an airstrike against Al shabaab base in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia, the latest in a string of aerial assaults on the militants by foreign forces.

The foreign forces using helicopters have targeted Al Shabaab’s Ibrahim Ali Berre camp, located about 120 miles north-west of the capital Mogadishu, sources said.

Reliable sources tell IdaleNews.com that several Al shabaab foreign commanders were nabbed in a ground military operation at Ibrahim Ali Berre near Tararow district after the airstrike.

U.S. forces which provides military support to western-backed weak Somalia’s federal government carried out numerous air strikes in southern Somalia in recent months, targeting Al Shabaab bases, which successfully killed many senior leaders of the group.
