Two people are confirmed to have been hurt when a vehicle-laden with explosives exploded at a busy junction in Somali capital, Mogadishu on Thursday evening, eyewitness said.
An eyewitness who did not want to be named, said the car bomb took place at an army checkpoint in Siinaay intersection during a security check by Somali policemen.
“The car bomb went off during a security screening at Siinaay junction last night, there were two men in the car at the time of the blast, we don’t know exactly their fate,” he said.
It was immediately unclear the target of the car bomb, who orchestrated the attack, but Al Shabaab has conducted deadly attacks in Mogadishu in the past, targeting hotels and AMISOM.
