The deputy governor of Gedo region Mohamed Hussein Al Qadi has condemned the indiscriminate airstrikes by Kenyan air force jets targeting civilian areas in south west of Somalia.

Speaking with local Media, Mr Al Qadi said Kenyan military carried out air attacks against residential areas in Gedo region, killing many unarmed civilians.

“KDF jets still continue their airstrikes in Gedo province, we call on Kenyan government to minimize civilian casualties during their operations,” he said.

The deputy governor added that Kenyan military is committing crimes against humanity in Somalia as they are fighting against Al Shabaab militants.

KDF is part of UN-mandated African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
