A minister in the Galmudug state of Somalia has declared they are extending another olive branch to Ahlu Sunna, an armed moderate Islamist group based in Dhusamareb city in central Somalia.
The minister of constitution and federal affairs of Galmudug Osman Mohamed Ali, told Radio Shabelle over the phone that his administration is prepared to open peace talks with Ahlu Sunna.
“We want peace and stability in the region, so that Galmudug state reiterates it welcomes any initiative to end the long-running rivalry in Galgadud region,” Mr Ali added during the interview.
On the other hand, the minister said that Galmudug State is now working to select its representatives in the Somalia’s forthcoming parliament due to be formed by the end of 2016.
