Four Die as clan fighting renews in Marko – INO

At least four people are known to have been killed and scores wounded in a renewed clan battle in the southern Somali port city of Marko, Lower Shabelle regional capital, resident said.

Saturday’s gunfight broke out at Bulo-Jan village when an armed militia attacked bases for another clan fighters in the city, sparking a deadly combat that claimed the lives of four people from both sides.

A resident, who requested not to be named, told Idale News Online by phone that the fighting raged on until Saturday evening around Bulo-Jan and other nearby areas in Marko town.

Tension remained high for the day-long as the warring militias are mobilizing to gain the control of the lucrative seaport city, which once served as one of the biggest Al shabaab in southern Somalia.
