Baidoa(INO)- An official in Somalia says that hundreds of families have been displaced by the ongoing military operations against Al shabaab militants in the south-western region of Bay.
The residents of the conflict-affected areas arrived in Baidoa city, where they are currently facing acute malnutrition, shortage of food and lack of clean water, according to Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed who is the Baidoa administrator.
Speaking in a phone interview with Media, Baidoa district commissioner said the locally displaced people (IDPs) are now in dire need of help, calling on the humanitarian agencies to assist them.
South West Of Somalia Army and their allied African Union troops recaptured a number of key towns and villages in Bay region from Al shabaab fighters following a joint military offensive early this year.
