Armed fighters from the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab have attacked at AMISOM base in Bufow area with rocked propelled grenades and machine guns, according to residents.
The night-time ambush attack at AMISOM base in Bufow village, has sparked an intense gunfire that broke out between the Al shabaab attackers and AU soldiers.
The combat has continued for several hours on Monday night and caused unspecified number of casualties sustained on both sides. Bufow lies 6 kilometers away from Marko city.
Local residents said they could hear heavy gunfire and thud of mortar shells raining down on African Union forces’ base at Bufow, near the coastal city of Marko, 120Km south of Mogadishu.
