The Al Qaeda-linked militants belonging to Al Shabaab have attacked military bases manned by Somali and south west state forces near Afgoye district.
The attack occurred at Muuri, 13Km away from Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle region, according to the residents both sides have exchanged a deadly gunfight.
Al Shabaab carried out a separate attack on Somali government troops at Bufow area, which is located outside the port city of Marko.
Civilian houses were set ablaze during the attack in Bufow area.
Abdi Dheer, a senior Somali military commander said the government troops have rescued a mother and her kids from the fire set on their house.
