Fighters from the Al Qaeda-affiliated have launched an ambush attack on Somali and African Union troops in Somalia’s south-western Bakool region on Thursday morning.

Thursday’s attack happened at an area near Hudur town, the regional capital of Hudur region, where the allied troops have been conducting a security sweep against Al Shabaab.

Local residents said at least three Somali army soldiers were killed in the Al Shabaab ambush near Hudur city, about 375Km south west of Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Hudur and its nearby areas are largely controlled by Somali and AMISOM forces, despite sporadic Al Shabaab ambushes on the coalition forces.
