Outgoing Somali parliament speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari has announced on Wednesday his candidacy bid for re-election after his 4-year term ended last September.
Speaking at a press conference in the state house in the capital, Mr Jawari said he will vie for the leadership of lower house chamber in the forthcoming election scheduled on 11th January.
Mr Jawari who was elected as a lower house MP from Southwest state said he took the decision to compete for parliament speakership after a request from the new legislators.
During his speech at the press conference, HE Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari has called on the new MPs of federal parliament to elect him as their speaker for the next four years.
