Fighters with the Somalia-based Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab have staged an ambush raid on Somali government troops near Wajid district in Bakol region.
A witness who asked to remain anonymous, told local Media the attack occurred in the outskirts of the city as Somali troops were in security patrol.
Friday’s ambush attack has ignited a gunfight between the Al shabaab fighters and SNA – Somali National Army forces that raged on for several hours.
There was no any report on the casualties on both sides due to the remoteness of the area and poor phone networks.
Today’s clash near Wajid comes day after deadly battle between Al Shabaab and Somali troops, along with AMISOM soldiers at Moro-Gabey village near Hudur, the regional capital of Bakol.
