The northeastern semi-autonomous state of Puntland is preparing to hold meetings to select lawmakers of the upcoming Somali parliament, reports said.
In Garowe, Puntland president Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas is having talks with elders to decide the election of the region’s representatives in the parliament.
The Upper house of Somalia’s next parliament is expected to be selected from the capital cities of the federal states of Somalia by the end of this year.
Last week, regional leaders and officials of Somali federal government have held a national leadership forum (NLF) in Mogadishu and agreed to hold the election in September and November of this year.
