Somali army backed by south west state troops have recaptured Tiyeglow district in Bakool region in south-west of Somalia on Tuesday following the pull-out of the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab fighters.
Mohamed Abdalla Hassan, the district commissioner of Tiyeglow has confirmed the seizure to Radio IdaleNews over the phone, saying that Al Shabaab fighters abandoned the town without resistance.
The militants resized the town last month after Somali troops and Ethiopian soldiers withdrew from it. The African Union forces (AMISOM) vacated several key areas in the past.
Somali National Army (SNA) and South West state forces pushed Al Shabaab out of El Garas village, before taking Tiyeglow town, both without a battle, according Hassan.
