President Mohamud extends Eid Al Fitr message to Somalis

The president of the federal republic of Somalia H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has extended his warmest greetings to Somalis celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which brings an end to the holy month of Ramadan.

“Eid Mubarak!….May your year be full of blessings, peace, justice, development & happiness,” said Somali president in a statement.

Somali president has also sent condolences to the family and friend of those who lost their loved ones in Al Shabaab attacks in the country during this year.

2016 elections

While speaking about the forthcoming general elections, Mr Mohamud has expressed hope for the 2016 elections, in which he said will be the 1st election to be held in the country and the citizens have their vote in 47 years.

Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged the people of Somalia to jointly and entirely take part the upcoming elections due to be held in August, later this year.

The planed elections are expected to become a way out for the long-running clan-based power sharing model known as (4.5) as the leaders agreed to hold one-man, one vote elections in 2020,

War on Al Shabaab

Somali president says his government is the only country that has successfully won the war on terror when compared to the recent attacks in the stable world.

Mr. Mohamud claims the federal government has defeated Al Shabaab in the ongoing joint combat in south and central regions of the horn of Africa country.

Desite being driven out of Mogadishu, Al Shabaab still poses security threat to the country as the militants are carrying out broad-daylight bombings in the capital, and elsewhere in the country.

Currently, 22,000 strong AU forces are helping Somalia in the fight against Al Shabaab since 2007.
