Authorities in Somalia say they are investigating the root-cause of the intermittent clan clashes in the southern region of Lower Shabelle after early peace deals have failed to come into force.
Speaking to IdaleNews.com, Lower Shabelle region Ibrahim Aden Ali (Najah) has accused third hand in the clan conflict , saying they are making a probe into the actors who are fueling the tensions.
“In terms of reconciliation, there are some people who don’t want to reach a lasting peace and solution for the conflict, so we are working on to seize and prosecute the peace spoilers,” said Najah.
Clan fighting and Al shabaab attacks on Govt security forces and AMISOM bases have ravaged the Somalia’s Lower Shabelle for the past four years. Several efforts to end the conflict have failed to produce a solution.
