President Kenyatta kicks off three day visit to North Eastern


President Uhuru Kenyatta will from Wednesday make a three-day visit to Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir Counties, according to State House spokesman, Manoah Esipisu.

In a series of tweets, Manoah disclosed that during the tour, President Uhuru Kenyatta will meet leaders, interact with wananchi and review and support the North Eastern development agenda.

In Garissa County, the president will on Saturday launch and commission projects as well as visit Garissa University College.

On Friday, the president will review the progress of the roll out of the Digital Literacy Program in Wajir County.

In the meantime, the President begins his tour in Mandera County where he will launch, inspect and commission roads, an airport and address public gatherings.

This comes in the backdrop of the government’s announcement of intentions to repatriate refugees and closure of the Dadaab Camp.

Although, according to media reports, United Nation Security Council members from New York, USA are expected for a four-day visit to Kenya, Somalia, and Egypt, when the refugee crisis is likely to feature prominently during talks with the president, this is according to the Security Council report, an online publication covering the United Nation’s decision-making body.
