AMISOM says assisted SNA kill top Al shabaab commander

The African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said it helped Somali National Army (SNA) kill senior Al shabaab commander Mohamed Mohamud alias Dulyadayn in a joint operation near Kismayo last week.

In a Twitter post on Sunday morning, AMISOM said an SNA operation, supported by AMISOM troops, destroyed an Al-Shabaab taxation centre in Beer Xaani, killing three fighters.

The AU force the military operation conducted in Beer Haani also resulted in the death of Mohammed Mohamud Dulyadeyn, a senior Al-Shabaab commander,  leading group’s attacks in Lower Juba.

On the other hand, AMISOM said Al shabaab militants will continue to suffer defeat unless they lay down their weapons and join others in building a peaceful and stable Somalia.

Last week, U.S. said in a statement that it assisted Somali military in the Beer Haani raid which has led to the death of Al shabaab commander Mohamed Mohamud known as Dulyadayn or Kuno.
